From the Blacktown Advocate (28th Sept 2011)
THE grave of explorer William Lawson is in need of restoration after centuries of natural decay.
Blacktown Council will seek funding from the State Government to restore the grave at the St Bartholomew’s Church cemetery in Prospect.
Lawson, along with Gregory Blaxland and William Wentworth, discovered the path and established the region’s first settlement in Bathurst.
A council statement said it would liaise with the relevant state government departments to determine what funding may be available for the bicentenary of the Blue Mountains crossing, and if any of the funding could be allocated for the restoration of William Lawson’s grave.
