According to an article in the Sydney Morning Herald,  Australia's funeral industry is on the cusp of a boom, with latest forecasts suggesting the greying masses of baby boomers will be dropping off the perch in greater numbers.

But relatives should take heart. There are now far more interesting ways of being disposed of - such as being buried in a cardboard box or standing upright like an entombed warrior.

The proportion of Australians over 70 - 9.4 per cent of the population, or 2.15 million people - is expected to rise to 10 per cent, or 2.5 million people, in 2015-16, which will bring the funeral industry more ''clients'', as it calls them.
