Adelaide's Cheltenham Cemetery has published a list of interment rights that are at their tenure's end. The Cemetery is seeking to contact the holders to provide them an opportunity to renew the respective interment rights.
When the lives of those living and working within the western suburbs of metropolitan Adelaide are touched by death they have inevitably sought to create a lasting memorial at Cheltenham Cemetery. This community cemetery continues to provide a place to remember and be remembered, as it has for more than a century. While the Adelaide Cemeteries Authority seeks to preserve as much of the cemetery’s heritage value as it can, it must balance this with the need to make available space for future generations to be interred.
The Interment Rights held by those sites listed have now expired. Family and friends have the opportunity to ensure that these sites are preserved by renewing the Interment Right and we encourage the Interment Right Holder or other eligible person to do so. If the Interment Right Holder or other eligible person chooses not to renew, they may apply to claim the memorial.
Sites that are not renewed will revert to the control of the Authority and will be subject to re-use in accordance with Section 38 of the Burial and Cremation Act (SA) 2013.
