According to a report in news.com, Australia's second-largest operator of funeral homes and crematoriums has continued its expansion in New Zealand, buying more funeral homes in the North Island for $NZ6.4 million ($A6.1m).
Propel Funeral Partners said on Monday it has bought a funeral home and crematorium in Waikanae, 60km north of Wellington, as well as a funeral home in Napier.
In December the company bought four funeral service companies on Auckland's North Shore for a total of $NZ17.1 million ($A16.3m) in cash and $A3.35 million in stock.
According to its annual report released in October, Propel owns 39 funeral homes and crematoriums in Australia and 16 in New Zealand.
The acquisitions announced on Monday should increase Propel's annual revenue by 2.5 per cent, the company said.
The Sydney-based company says on its website it is trying to "consolidate the fragmented death care industry in Australia and New Zealand".
Just after noon, Propel shares were up 3.19 per cent, or 9 cents, to $2.91.
