The biennial Australian Grief and Bereavement Conference will be held in Manly, Sydney, which is widely known as Sydney’s premier beach and will take place from 8-10 August 2018, with one day pre conference workshops on 6 & 7 August 2018. Hosted at the Novotel Sydney Manly Pacific, this is the ultimate seaside venue overlooking beautiful Manly beach.


This unique professional development opportunity will bring together a diverse range of world-class international keynote speakers alongside local presentations, pre-conference workshops and networking events.

Keynote presenters for 2018 include well recognised international and national presenters including, Dr Donna Schuurman, Dr Wendy Lichtenthal, Professor Birgit Wagner, Professor Joan Beaumont and Professor Richard A Bryant.   

The First World War was a turning point in the cultural history of death and bereavement in Australia and, as 2018 will make 100 years since the conclusion of these hostilities, the conference will explore the impact of this event on Australian responses to death and grief, both at that time and over the past century.
The use of internet technologies n order to provide bereavement care, and also focus on bereavement and its complications, referencing the conceptualisation and treatment of complicated grief, will also be discussed
A one day workshops will be presented by Dr Donna Shuurman, covering Child and Adolescent bereavement and Dr Wendy Lichtenthal workshopping Bereavement Support and Palliative Care.
