Fernhill Artist Impression 2017 (click for larger image)ROOKWOOD cemetery will push ahead with plans to snap up and transform part of Fernhill Estate, despite ongoing opposition from Penrith councillors, the Daily Telegraph tells us.

According to Marissa Georgopoulos  (Penrith Press), Council hopes to ban cemetery and crematorium developers from Mulgoa Valley or Wallacia land, after a unanimous vote by councillors last week. However, Rookwood General Cemeteries Reserve Trust chief executive George Simpson said they would move forward with the due-diligence process.

Councillor Ross Fowler asked his peers and a gallery of residents to envision Rookwood replacing the sprawling heritage estate.

“That would absolutely, 100 per cent change the landscape,” Cr Fowler said.
