{cwgallery}An article in the St George and Sutherland Shire Leader noted that gardeners at Woronora Memorial Park collected a ute load of rosemary from the park’s gardens this week to send to Sydney Legacy to be used for making sprigs to be worn for Anzac Day.
After Woronora ground staff loaded the ute with rosemary they drove to Guardian Funerals at Rockdale and collected more rosemary before taking the total load to 47 York Centre, Sydney, which is the HQ for Legacy in NSW.
This is the third year that Woronora Memorial Park has provided a substantial amount of rosemary from their gardens to Legacy.
Rosemary is being donated from across Sydney to make 150,000 sprigs.
Woronora Memorial Park chief executive officer Graham Boyd is also Legacy St George chairman.
“There are around 340,000 veterans alive from all conflicts since World War I and any of their families may need Legacy’s support,” Mr Boyd said.
“Legacy currently supports more than 80,000 widows or widowers and partners and 1800 children and dependents with a disability, including around 1600 in the St George area.”
