The Daily Telegraph reports the remains of almost 50 people will have to be ­removed from graves within the boundary of the new Western Sydney Airport at Badgerys Creek.

Two cemeteries, each more than a 100 years old, will be covered by tonnes of asphalt and concrete by the time the airport is due to start operating in the mid-2020s.

The federal Government has confirmed it has already been in touch with the relatives of those buried in the grounds of the St John’s Anglican Church and the Badgerys Creek Methodist (now Uniting) Church. Both graveyards are in Pitt St.
