Emotions are running high in an outback Queensland town over the erosion of plaques at the local cemetery. Bore water is being used to keep the grass green, but has caused the names on some graveside plaques to completely disappear.

ABC Online reports Cloncurry Council has been consulting the community over possible solutions to the problem and some ideas will be discussed at council's ordinary meeting next week.

Ms Caldwell says the disappearing letters are caused by a couple of factors.
