The Greater Metropolitan Cemeteries Trust, which manages Preston and Keilor cemeteries on behalf of the Victorian state government, warned mourners and guests at funerals that the industrial action may cause delays or interrupt funerals.

Fifteen people working at the Preston and Keilor cemeteries have launched industrial action against the trust.

They are refusing to maintain grave sites or gardens, and will not help funeral staff prepare for burials or exhumations. They are also refusing to handle complaints, or sell ''mausoleum crypts, concrete vaults, monumental graves, lawn graves and cremated remains sites''.
