The Belfast Garden Club has won the first award for historical creativity at the Ellerslie International Flower Show.

The club's exhibit, The Early Settlers, is a historical representation of the 1890s Belfast cemetery.

Convener of Judges Jim Fogarty said the award, presented for the first time, recognised the ''historical innovation and creativity of the club in capturing the essence and atmosphere of a cemetery from the 19th century''.
