The NSW Government has released a new Public Health Order as some significant COVID-19 restrictions are eased from 15th May 2020.
The new Public Health Order has major ramifications for local councils with significant changes to the facilities and services they can provide to their local communities.
The Office of Local Government (OLG) has published comprehensive FAQs to provide detailed advice to councils as they consider the practical implementation of the changes on their operations and the provision of community facilities and services.
The FAQs provide advice in relation to council staff working arrangements, council meetings, public consultation, swimming pools, skateparks, outdoor play equipment, outdoor gym equipment, libraries, beaches, parks, community centres, and sporting activities.
OLG will continue to update the FAQs as further advice and clarifications come to hand.
Councils can access the FAQs here.
