  • Bold new strategy launched to secure NSW’s water future

    The NSW Government has launched a bold new 20-year strategy to secure the state’s water resources. The focus is on ensuring water security for NSW communities, industries and environment to thrive, now and into the future. This strategy will guide how we respond to a changing climate and increased demand for water. It includes planning for new supply options such as stormwater harvesting and recycling as well as guiding decisions on how, where and what water infrastructure investments are made.  

  • Draft Greater Sydney Water Strategy now released for community consultation

    The NSW Government has released the draft Greater Sydney Water Strategyfor public comment. The draft strategy is a long-term plan to ensure a resilient and secure water supply for the people of Sydney, the Illawarra and Blue Mountains. 

  • Draft NSW Water Strategy for Public exhibition & webinars

    The NSW Government is developing a 20-year NSW Water Strategy to improve resilience of the state’s water resources over the coming decades. The NSW Water Strategy will address key challenges and opportunities for water management and service delivery across the state and set the strategic direction for the NSW water sector over the long-term.

  • Drought Update from NSW Government

    All of NSW is now effectively in drought, with widespread fires and possible extreme temperatures making the situation worse. Water shortages are no longer confined to the west of the Great Dividing Range, with coastal areas now at risk. Some coastal rivers have ceased to flow, or have record-breaking low flows, and many commercial licence holders are no longer permitted to pump because of low river levels. 

  • Final NSW Water Strategy is live

    Today the NSW Government launched the NSW Water Strategy. This is an important milestone for the water sector, our first 20-year water strategy for all of the state. This is a strategy for the long-term, underpinned by cutting-edge data and modelling and looking at smart, innovative solutions to ensure our water supply is safe, reliable and sustainable, now and for future generations.

  • Sydney Water: Level 1 water restrictions now in place

    You may be aware the NSW Government has announced that Level 1 waterrestrictions came into effect 1 June 2019.  Water restrictions target outdoor water use and will apply to everyone, residential and industry.
