Some of you have had issues accessing registered users and members only content on the web site despite being logged in. I am aware of the issue and looking at a fix, but in the meantime please follow these tips if you're affected:
Generally if you know that you are logged in but cannot access restricted content, refreshing the web page should fix it. Pressing the F5 in most browsers will refresh the page. On small devices you may need to refresh from the address bar.
If you are still not able to access the restricted content after that please let me know.
... reset them instead.
When you've forgotten your password, five successive failed login attempts will get your account locked for 24 hours. We do not do this to frustrate or annoy you, but to avoid having the site or server hacked, which has happened a couple of times in the past. It is a hassle restoring everything after a hack, and may cause the loss of a little content. Your Association also wants to keep certain information & data as secure as it possibly can, particularly the document storage area.
So, if you're struggling to remember your password it is best to request a reset before you get to the third guess. Information about resetting a lost or forgotten password is here.
You could also use the password manager in your web browser to remember your passwords. Browser password managers are generally reasonably secure these days.
I have had reports that some of you experience login errors (usually 403 errors) when attempting to use the log in buttons on the members only and news site.
I suspect this has to do with the privacy compliance I am tryng to implement on the website. As a work around please ty the following
... and go from there.
Whatever the case, if you experience difficulties logging in, especially at this time, please let me know immediately.
The log in/ log out links on the CCANSW have been changed to avoid some security risks and confusion. The main log in link on the home page https://ccansw.org.au remains. There is also another login link in each page's footer under the "User Areas" menu heading.
On other sites, such as the News, information, business directory etc sub domain sites, you'll find a log in link on the top menu, right hand side. On mobile devices the menu may be a drop down type, so the link item will we the last item.
If you have forgotten your password or want to reset it, the process is simple:
You should receive an email message containing a link to a page where you enter a new password.
There are two ways to login a on the CCANSW website:
If the details were correct, you'll be logged in
You will be emailed a message containing a special link. When you click the link in the message you will logged in automatically.
Read this if you wan to reset your password or need to recover it.
I notice from the server logs that quite a few of you continue to have issues logging in. A couple of quick tips; you can use your email address in lieu of your user name. You can also use the "Login by Email" option to log in without a password. More info here....
We have reviewed & changed the login options on the web site to try and avoid the confusion some report to be experiencing.
