Australian Death Care during Covid-19
A collaborative co-design workshop to reflect on the death care sector's response to the Covid-19 crisis and generate future strategies.
The COVID-19 pandemic not only represents a serious threat to human life and livelihoods, it has transformed experiences of death, grief, and memorialisation worldwide. At the heart of these disruptions and transformations are death care workers, who provide an essential service in the face of great uncertainty, but who are also often overlooked in official pandemic responses and media coverage.
This online workshop, hosted by the University of Melbourne DeathTech Research Team, will bring together representatives from government, industry, NGOs, and academia to assess the challenges for death care introduced by Covid-19, assess the initial sector response, and to generate strategies for responding to future large-scale events.
This is the second industry workshop for The Future Cemetery, a research project lead by the DeathTech Research Team with support from the Greater Metropolitan Cemeteries Trust.
