Are you ready to celebrate Australian heritage for another year? Then we are excited to welcome you to the 2019 Australian Heritage Festival.
This year’s festival will bring together an array of events across the nation from 18 April – 19 May 2019. Our theme this year is Connecting People, Places and the Past.
Events across Australia will be held at historic buildings, landmarks, shipwrecks and sacred sites. The festival will bring together communities from all walks of life to recognise and celebrate heritage and culture through ceremony, song and dance, performance art, art in various media and artefacts, talks on books and stories, and guided tours of towns, places and spaces.
The Australian Heritage Festival will bring to life all chapters of Australian culture and history, telling the stories of diverse and distinctive experiences that make up our communities.
10:30 am - 12:30 pm
This walking tour is run by the Friends of Gore Hill Cemetery during the National Trust Heritage Festival. Visit a number of significant memorials, some re-discovered during restoration of the cemetery. Learn about the cemetery’s original Victorian-Edwardian garden, together with information about its history and the lives of some of Sydney’s north shore residents buried there.

Fremantle Cemetery is a site of immense social and cultural importance to Western Australia. Our beloved port city is a historian's treasure trove and the local cemetery has countless tales to tell. Established in 1899, the cemetery is the final resting place of tens of thousands of Western Australians and the graves commemorate a uniquely charismatic cast of contrasting characters; from heroes to villians and from Statesmen to rock stars.
Springvale General Cemetery is holding free rose pruning demonstrations for our communities, sessions are conducted by our expert rosarians and are fun and information with a great hands-on advice.
