n this live online talk, Spencer Bailey, Phaidon editor-at-large and author of the new book In Memory Of: Designing Contemporary Memorials, speaks with graphic designer Michael Bierut and architect David Adjaye about the shift from figurative to abstract styles in memorials.

The discussion, which will be live streamed on Dezeen, will address questions such as: What is the relevance of memorials in the 21st century? Why does abstraction carry a power that figurative statues rarely, if ever, achieve?
