Reflecting on the year so far

This year has seen us off to a flying start with several significant projects recently coming to completion. This includes the community-led master plan for the Warden Head lighthouse as well as the community-led disaster recovery plans for The Channon and Nimbin communities. Both have been very rewarding projects for our team.

We also continue to be busy assisting our clients across regional NSW preparing plans of management for Crown land. This has taken us along the coast, up to the tablelands and central NSW. 

As we move towards the elections in September, it is timely to reflect on the governance risks for local councillors being online particularly as the gears begin to shift into campaign mode.

Thanks, as always, for continuing to support a regional business like ours. It means a lot to us.   

Social media and politics - a risky mix?

Lets face it – politics and social media can be a risky mix. Hardly a day goes by where a politician (either local or international) isn’t involved in an online scandal or social media pile-on.  Around election time, the risks of being online are likely to increase. In our latest blog, we look at some recent legal decisions and how councillors can manage the risk.

Project Update - Warden Head Lighthouse Master plan

After working closely and collaborating with a dedicated community-based group in Ulladulla, Locale are thrilled to have finalised the Warden Head Lighthouse Master Plan.

The project included implementing substantial community safety improvements whilst building on the cultural, natural and historical character to enhance the coastal space and see its future as an inviting place for recreation and relaxation.

Plans of management

We have been working with a number of regional councils across NSW in developing Plans of Management for Crown land.  A Plan of Management (POM) is a document that sets out the vision, aims and future actions for the use of community land owned or managed by councils.

The deadline for preparing Crown land POMs is fast approaching. Please get in touch if you need help getting your POMs complete by 30 June 2021.
