Shoalhaven City Council is seeking a Bereavement Services Coordinator to work across thirteen cemeteries, based at the Shoalhaven Memorial Gardens and Lawn Cemetery in Worrigee. The position supports the Bereavement Services Manager as well as coordinating the daily functions and maintenance of the cemeteries and crematoria.

Your New Role
Reporting directly to the Bereavement Services Manager, the focus of this position is to:
Support the Bereavement Services Manager in the delivery of a range of high standard bereavement and funerary services at the Shoalhaven City Council’s cemeteries and crematoria.
Support and coordinate the day to day operations of the Bereavement Services Assistants ensuring activities are undertaken in a timely and efficient manner with sensitivity and respect for the deceased and the bereaved.
Supervise and where necessary contribute to preparation and completion of graves, memorials and cremations.
Provide proactive attention to the business requirements of Funeral Directors, monument masons and other people or organisations within the bereavement sector.
Undertake projects and support the office/administrative and horticultural functions as required including regularly taking an active part in grounds and building maintenance. Ensure processes and protocols are in place for the Bereavement Services Team’s compliance with all relevant legislation and Council policies and ensure that risks are managed.
Council requires applicants for this position to undergo a National Criminal History Check during the recruitment process. This check will be at the expense of Council.
In order to be successful in the position, you will be/ possess:
Minimum five (5) years supervisory experience in construction, cemetery, crematorium or facility management or related activity with a combination of practical experience, coordination or staff and administration of project work.
Certificate IV Horticulture (or related field) or equivalent experience.
Current MR (NSW) Driver’s Licence
Current NSW WorkCover accredited First Aid Certificate
Current NSW Construction/induction Certificate
Current NSW Traffic Controller Certificate
Proven recent experience as a Back Hoe Operator
Proven recent experience Dogging
Safe Cemetery Operations training or equivalent (or ability to obtain)
