Cemetery and crematoria personnel will appreciate this exciting news for those interested in the professional advancement of the sector.

Australia’s Deakin University is now preparing to graduate the first cohort of academically accredited cemetery practitioners, including managers from Victoria and New South Wales.

The internationally unique Graduate Certificate of Cemetery Practice has been offered on-line since early 2020 and may be completed part-time within one year, from anywhere in the world. Co-designed by sector experts and academics to deliver specialised leadership knowledge and skills, the program is kindly supported by the Cemeteries & Crematoria Association of NSW.

The course builds critical awareness and ability to deal sensitively with a range of essential client service issues. Specialised units focus on interment and grief in multi-faith/multi-cultural contexts and explore how to enhance communications and balance competing demands around management of physical environments, historic values and cemeteries and crematoria regulations.

There is already keen interest in expanding the program to a Master of Cemetery Practice degree.

To help you share this vital information, please find attached attached the current digital course flyer. Anyone interested can also simply search ‘Deakin Cemetery Practice’.
