The Cemeteries an Crematoria Association of NSW is pleased to welcome new Associate Member, Box Hill Cemetery, Victoria, AU.
Box Hill Cemetery, a foundation member of the Cemeteries & Crematoria Association of Victoria, is proud to now be an Associate member of the CCANSW. The cemetery was established in 1873, in a then agricultural precinct that is now the heart of Melbourne’s eastern suburbs. By 2004, the 12.5 ha cemetery was considered full and no further grave rights were granted. With revenue declining and costs escalating, the cemetery was destined for insolvency. At the start of 2013, new leadership implemented a sound viability strategy and the cemetery’s course turned around. Many hundreds of new graves, crypts and niches have since been established to meet the needs of local bereaved families and the cemetery has been enhanced by a dedicated professional team. The revitalised Box Hill Cemetery is now one of the most successful cemeteries in Victoria
